Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and junior
Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) won the evening's first event, the 200 yard medley relay. The four swimmers from four different years combined for a winning time of 2:02.75.
PEAL SETS TEAM RECORDIn the second event of the day, Peal won the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 11:49.89. Her effort broke the SLC record in the event by 11 seconds, making her the first Gryphon to break the 12-minute barrier. Peal also went on to win the 500 freestyle (5:44.43).
GRYPHON WINNERSQuirk had a big day, winning a pair of individual races. She touched the wall first with a personal record in the 200 freestyle (2:12.11) and also won the 100 freestyle (1:00.30).
Lawson took two races as well. She was victorious in the 50 free (27.19) and swam a season-best time to win the 100 breaststroke (1:11.71).
The Gryphons' final winner was
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento). The sophomore edged out teammate Amberchan to win the 100 backstroke (1:12.21) by a margin of 0.11 second. Kroll's time in the event is her fastest of the season.
NOTABLE TIMESAmberchan posted a season best time in the 100 butterfly (1:09.30). Rookie
Kiki Michaan (New York, N.Y./Saint Ann's School) swam a personal best in the 100 freestyle (1:26.48). Sophomore
Rachel Barkowitz (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) finished the 100 breaststroke in a season-best time (1:26.82), and classmate
Sarah Schnapp (Taiwan/Tzu Chi) had a season-best in the 200 individual medley (2:49.60).
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester)'s day was highlighted by a fourth-place swim in the 200 freestyle (2:40.13).
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence hosts SUNY College at Old Westbury and St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in Skyline action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The meet is the Gryphons' final competition at Campbell Sports Center this season.
