NEW YORK—A total of 46 Sarah Lawrence College student-athletes have been named to the Skyline Academic Honor Roll for the 2014-15 Winter and Spring sports seasons, as announced by Associate Commissioner Steve Haug on Wednesday. The Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in the conference with a 3.3 grade point average or better while competing in swimming, basketball, baseball, softball, men's tennis and men's volleyball.
"It is my privilege to recognize these student-athletes for their achievement in the classroom," said Skyline Commissioner Linda Bruno. "Their dedication to athletic and academic excellence truly personifies the student-athlete experience."
Among SLC's 46 honorees were three student-athletes to receive recognition in multiple sports. Junior
Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) was honored in both women's swimming and softball. Junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) received recognition in both men's swimming and men's volleyball, and senior
Derek Komar (Stormville, N.Y./John Jay) was named to the Academic Honor Roll in both men's volleyball and men's tennis.
SLC's 49 selections were the third-most among the 10-school league. Sarah Lawrence was led by the Gryphons women's swimming team with 14 selections, followed by softball with 10 and men's basketball with eight honorees.
The student-athletes add to
Sarah Lawrence's 41 Skyline honorees for Fall 2014 sports. Student-athletes appearing on both lists include rookie
Keith Burns (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) in men's soccer and men's basketball; sophomore
Justin Heftel (Spokane, Wash./Saint George's School) in men's cross country and men's volleyball; and junior
Juan Sucre (Caracas, Venezuela/ASFM (Monterrey, Mexico)) in men's soccer and men's tennis.
