FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—The Gryphons' five-match winning streak was snapped on Saturday when Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis was defeated by Skyline rival Farmingdale State College, 8-1, at FSC Courts.

LUCKY NUMBER SEVENSeniors
Lane Garber (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) and
Sarah Fiordaliso (Buffalo, N.Y./Sweet Home) earned the Gryphons' only point of the day by winning the No. 3 doubles match. The duo fought to a 7-7 deadlock but finally broke free by winning the last two games of the 9-7 match. Garber and Fiordaliso improved to 7-0 on the season in doubles play.
RAMS IN CONTROLFarmingdale State took control in the other matches on the courts. At No. 2 doubles,
Autumn Atkinson (Manasquan, N.J./George School) and
Juliet Slade (St. Paul, Minn./Central) saw an end to their five-match winning streak, 8-3. FSC went ahead 2-1 after doubles and swept all six singles matches.
ALL GOOD THINGS…In singles, both Fiordaliso and Atkinson had their four-match winning streaks broken.
Moni Spancheska (Skopje, Macedonia/NOVA International) entered the weekend on a three-match winning streak but was defeated in the No. 6 singles match. Sophomore
Sofia Reh (Villanova, Pa./Radnor) won five games but was topped in the No. 3 match, 6-4, 6-1. As a team, SLC's five-match winning streak was its longest since 2010.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence has a week off before returning to the courts to face Skyline foe Sage on Saturday, October 3. The Gryphons host the Gators at Andrews Courts in Bronxville at 1 p.m.
