BRONXVILLE, N.Y.-After trailing by 11, the Gryphons pulled within two points in the final minute of play, but Sarah Lawrence College was eventually overcome by St. Joseph's College Long Island, 62-53, in Skyline action at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Monday.

FIRST HALFThe lead was exchanged three times in the first five minutes, and St. Joseph's took an early 10-5 advantage. Sophomore
Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) scored five straight points on a jumper and successful three-pointer, lifting SLC to a 16-13 edge. As the first half progressed, the lead changed hands five more times in the period, settling on a one point SJC margin, 26-25, at halftime.
Segal led the Gryphons with eight points in the period, followed by junior
Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia/Grammar School Lazarevac) with seven points. Rookie
Parker Hagmaier (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) led all players with seven rebounds in the half.
SECOND HALFJunior
Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) scored the first basket of the second half, and captain
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) followed to put SLC on top, 29-26. From there, St. Joseph's gained momentum and went on a 16-3 run that left the Gryphons trailing by double-digits, 42-32. The visitors maintained their commanding lead, and were in front, 52-42, with six minutes to play.
Back-to-back layups by Radosavljevic were followed by a successful jumper from Gilleran, putting the Green and White within four points, 52-48. Following an SJC three-pointer, rookie
Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) converted on a pair of free throws, and fellow first year
Gabe Eng (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beacon School) drained a trey to close the gap to two points, 55-53, with little more than a minute to play.
While the Gryphons had their chances down the stretch, the Golden Bears prevailed, scoring the final seven points of the back-and-forth contest.
FOR THE GRYPHONSRadosavljevic scored a eight points in the second half and totaled a team-high of 15 points; he fell one rebound short of a double-double, collecting nine in the game. Segal scored a three-pointer in the second period to finish in double-figures with 11 points. Gilleran had seven points in the game and racked up four blocks.
Hagmaier had 11 rebounds in the second half to lead all players with 18. After scoring 20 points in his last three games, Gerak was held to four points. Eng contributed five points on the day, while Jones and
Ege Ozcan (Istanbul, Turkey/Andrews Osborne Acad. (Ohio)) notched four rebounds apiece.
Wyatt Rocheleau (San Jose, Calif./Christopher) tallied a block, and
Brendan O'Connell (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) got on the stat sheet with a steal.
FOR ST. JOSEPH'SIsaiah Moore led the game with 22 points. Andy Laurent scored 10 and led his squad with seven rebounds. Dominique Span finished his evening with a game-high six steals.
