Women's Volleyball Dismisses Cooper Union, 3-0

Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—The Gryphons improved to 9-1 at home this season after Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball swept The Cooper Union, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
Senior Monet Thibou (Brooklyn, N.Y./Elisabeth Irwin) scored the Gryphons' first three kills of the match. Rookie Francesca Kohani (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) had four kills and a pair of service aces in the opening set, while first year Cat Ramey (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) had two aces and a kill to help the Gryphons to a 25-12 win. In the second set, Kohani added four more kills while Ramey contributed two kills and a pair of aces. Senior Lin Zhu (Chengdu, China/Chengdu No. 7) also had a service ace, and the Green and White cruised to a 25-16 victory. In the third set, Kohani capped off her evening with five more kills, and Ramey served up three more aces. Sophomore setter CJ Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev./Basic) had two aces and a kill in the set.

LEADING GRYPHONS
Kohani led all players with 13 kills and had a share of the team best with nine digs. Kelley finished with three kills and 19 assists, and Ramey had three kills to accompany her match-high seven aces. Libero Lauren Kilroy (King of Prussia, Pa./Country Day Sch. of the Sacred Heart) landed a pair of kills with four service aces, and along with senior Clarisse Taboy (Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia/George School) both Gryphons aided the defense with nine digs, sharing the team-best.

Senior Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) also had a kill. Kelley and Monet rounded out the night with one solo block each, and Kelly also shared an assisted block with rookie Ellen Vild (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs).

UP NEXT
The Gryphons play their final home matches of 2016 on Saturday. Sarah Lawrence plays host to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Farmingdale State College and College of Mount Saint Vincent for a Skyline multi-match starting at 11 a.m.
