SAYVILLE, N.Y.— Sarah Lawrence College women's cross country began the 2016 postseason at the Skyline Championship, hosted by St. Joseph's College Long Island at Broadway Avenue Park on Sunday. Backed by First Team All-Conference runner
Molly Walsh (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth), the Gryphons placed fifth in a field of 12 teams.

WALSH EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Walsh took nearly two minutes off her previous 6K collegiate best, completing the course in 25:19. Her effort earned her seventh place overall and a spot on the Skyline All-Conference First Team. Walsh has placed among the team's top three runners in every race this season and is the program's second-ever qualifier for the all-league first team.
SCORING GRYPHONS
Junior
Tiffany Meier (Goleta, Calif./Olive Grove Charter) nearly missed all-conference honors with a 16th-place overall finish. The No. 2 Gryphon posted a time of 26:23, just six seconds from the all-league cutoff. Her time was a personal best by a margin of nearly three minutes. Sophomore
Rosa Mykyta-Chomsky (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) was the next Gryphon to finish, earning 18th place in 26:36.
Allyson Panton (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) took three minutes off her previous best and finished among the top four Gryphons for the eighth time in the last nine races. The senior completed the course in 27:12, earning 26th place. Sophomore
Isabel Edmonds (Appleton, Wisc./Appleton North) improved upon her previous best by five seconds, and her run of 28:17 took 36th place. Edmonds finished less than two seconds ahead of her closest opponent from Sage, and the point made the critical difference in edging the Gators for fifth place by a 103-104 margin.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
The next four Gryphons across the line all recorded new collegiate 6K personal bests. Junior
Katie Shepard (Visalia, Calif./Mount Whitney) took six seconds off her previous best with a 41st-place finish in 28:32. Sophomore
Katherine Labadie (New Orleans, La./Benjamin Franklin)'s improvement was nearly a full minute, taking 44th in 29:02. In the rookie's postseason race,
Mei Takehana (Tokyo, Japan/Perkiomen School) earned 57th place and posted a new best of 29:53. Fellow first year
Brooke Remsen (Rye, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) saw a three-minute improvement, reaching the finish in 34:20 for 88th place.
Rookie
Natalie Wyse (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) completed the race in 34:46 for 90th place. Junior
Dani Dyen-Shapiro (Estero, Fla./Cypress Lake) followed close behind in 93rd (36:08). Rookie
Zhe Wu (Guangzhou, China/Nansha College Prep. Acad.) rounded out the squad and saw a nearly two minute improvement with a personal best of 36:39 for 96th.
