BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the team's final meet of the fall semester, Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming earned split results against U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Purchase College in a Skyline double-dual at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday. The Gryphons defeated Purchase, 129-67, but fell to USMMA, 104-90.

SENIOR DAY
During the meet, the Gryphons recognized swimmers in the final season of their respective careers:
Rachel Barkowitz (Fleming Island, Fla./Dedham (Mass.)),
Sky Mihaylo (Albany, Ore./West Albany),
Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester),
Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) and
Gabrielle Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett).
WINNING GRYPHONS
Rookie
Naima Joy Mackrel (Woodstock, N.Y./Kingston) led the day Sarah Lawrence, winning two of her three events. The first year Gryphon touched the wall first in the 50 yard freestyle (25.80) and in the 100 backstroke (1:02.05).
Junior
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.70), winning by more than two seconds. She also placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:23.41).
Sophomore
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) earned a victory the 500 yard freestyle (5:50.98) while taking second in the 200 freestyle in a season best 2:10.18.
NOTABLE SWIMS
Mackrel, Lawson, Risica and Peal were runners up in the 200 medley relay (1:56.61).
Quirk placed third in both the 100 freestyle (1:02.13) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.39). Risica's top swim was a third-place effort in the 100 butterfly (1:10.18), while Barkowitz earned third in the 200 individual medley (2:44.40) and swam a personal best in the 50 free (31.27). Junior
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) touched the wall third in the 100 backstroke (1:12.03), and rookie
Sarah Blanche Klein (Locust, N.J./Ranney School) swam a personal best to take third place in the 1000 freestyle (14:14.70) while making her debut in the 500 freestyle (6:55.75).
Junior
Leah Myrtil (Boston, Mass./Elizabeth Seton Academy) swam a season best in the 100 freestyle (1:05.71), and rookie
Caitie Adler (Pikesville, Md./Wilde Lake) was fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:23.18). Rookie
Kaitie Dilan (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) took fifth in the 1000 freestyle (14:46.50).
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Quirk, Myrtil, Adler and Kroll finished the day with a runner-up finish (1:58.68).
UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence will take its first-ever winter-training trip next month. The Gryphons are slated to compete on January 8 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
