Francesca Kohani (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) anchored the Gryphons offense with a match-high 12 kills.

KEY MOMENTS
The Gryphons trailed the opening set, 8-6, before Sarah Lawrence rallied to go on a 14-4 rally and take a 20-12 advantage en route to winning the set. The Gryphons fell behind again in the second set before crawling back from an 18-13 deficit. Sarah Lawrence scored 12 of the last 15 points to win, 25-21. The Green and White closed out the final set by winning nine of the last 11 points of the match to complete the 3-0 sweep.
GRYPHON LEADERS
Kohani dominated the offense with double-digit kills in her first collegiate match. Sophomore setter
CJ Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev./Basic) added four kills along with 20 assists and a match-high nine service aces. Rookie Kat Ramey and senior
Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) each contributed four kills as well.
On defense, rookie
Lauren Kilroy (King of Prussia, Pa./Country Day Sch. of the Sacred Heart) led the Gryphons with seven digs, and senior
Monet Thibou (Brooklyn, N.Y./Elisabeth Irwin) had a solo block along with three kills in the match.
FOR THE BEAVERS
CCNY's attack was led by Angela Ubanwu with six kills. Setter Tenaya Hawkins recorded 15 assists, while Veralucia Quispe and Lesly Polanco each had double-digit dig totals in the match.
IN THE RECORD BOOK
The Gryphons have now won three of their last four season openers. Thursday's win is the program's first over CCNY following the Beavers' wins in the first three meetings of a series that dates back to 1990.
