Men's Basketball Visits Old Westbury

Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.—The Gryphons held a one-point edge at halftime, yet Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was defeated by SUNY College at Old Westbury, 76-62, in a Skyline game at Clark Athletic Center on Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS
Sarah Lawrence sophomore Parker Hagmaier (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) scored the first three points of the game before the Panthers opened up a 19-8 advantage. Over the next 12 minutes, the Gryphons chipped away the deficit and went on a 29-12 run led by senior Jeff Jordan II (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) with eight points. With two minutes to play in the period, the Gryphons had their largest lead, 37-31. Old Westbury fired back late in the half, and Sarah Lawrence held a 37-36 edge at the intermission.

Old Westbury scored the first four points of the second half to take the lead for good. Jordan and rookie BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) each tallied three points early in the period, as the Gryphons tried to climb out of a 51-43 hole after five minutes elapsed in the half. Sarah Lawrence kept the game close, and a successful three-pointer by senior Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) sliced the deficit to four, 63-59. From there, Old Westbury scored the next 11 points and handed the Gryphons their fourth conference loss of the season.

TOP GRYPHONS
Sanders led the Gryphons with 13 points and led all players with 13 rebounds, notching his second double-double of his career. Gilleran hit double-figures with 11 points, while Jordan matched the 11-point total. Junior Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) had his best scoring output of the last seven games, scoring nine points in Tuesday's loss.

Reigning Skyline Rookie of the Week Joseph Kleeman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Arapahoe) totaled five points, five rebounds and five assists, while Hagmaier finished with five points. Senior Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) contributed five points, and sophomore Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) rounded out the scoring with a successful three-pointer.

FOR THE PANTHERS
Old Westbury was led by Jamail Stanley with 25 points, while Lylle Ryals score 24 points in the Panthers' victory.

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence returns home to host The Sage Colleges at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gryphons are set to host Farmingdale State College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
