CCNY Defeats Women’s Volleyball in Straight Sets on Senior Night

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team wrapped up its non-conference slate Thursday with a 3-0 loss to CCNY at Noyes Court.

KEY MOMENTS
Tied 4-4 in the opening set, the Beavers pulled away with a 13-5 spurt to win the game 25-15 and take a 1-0 series edge.

In the second game, Sarah Lawrence jumped out to an 18-13 advantage, but the Beavers tied the game with five straight points. The Gryphons regained the lead with two straight points, but CCNY countered with a pair of its own. Sarah Lawrence nabbed the lead again, but the Beavers used three consecutive points to take the lead for good and win, 26-24.

Trailing 15-14 in the third set, Sarah Lawrence went on a 5-0 run to take the lead. CCNY battled back to outscore the Gryphons 10-4 and complete the sweep.

Melanie Coleman (Forest Hills, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) paced Sarah Lawrence with a game-high 18 kills. Lauren Kilroy (King of Prussia, Pa./Country Day Sch. of the Sacred Heart) posted 22 assists, while Lucy DeCarlo (New York, N.Y./The Calhoun School) added 10 digs and Camryn Sanchez (El Cernito, Calif./Albany HS) finished with five service aces.

After the match, Eleni Spentzouris (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) was honored for her hard work and dedication to the Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball program.
