BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's swim team opened up Skyline action Saturday with a 109-87 loss to Mount Saint Mary at Campbell Sports Center.
GRYPHONS VICTORIES
Naima Mackrel (Woodstock, N.Y./Kingston) posted the Gryphons' first individual victory of the day, winning the 50 yard freestyle for the second straight week with a time of 25.79. It was one of two victories on the day, as she also took first-place in the 100 yard freestyle for a second consecutive meet with a mark of 57.89.
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was the top performer in the 200 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:21.42. She was also the runner-up in the 400 yard IM (5:19.56).
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) took first-place in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:36.28. Lawson also finished second in the 200 yard freestyle with a mark of 2:10.52.
TOP GRYPHON PERFORMANCES
Maryanne Roughton (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) was the runner-up in the 1650 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 22:05.14.
Lila Brustad (Navarre, Fla./Home School ) and
Kaitie Dilan (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) also scored for the Gryphons in the race.
Caitie Adler (Pikesville, Md./Wilde Lake) (200 yard freestyle, 200 yard butterfly),
Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) (50 yard freestyle, 200 yard backstroke),
Andrea Corbin (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) (400 yard IM, 200 yard breaststroke) and
Olivia Hoefling (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) (100 yard freestyle, 200 yard breaststroke) all added to the Gryphons' team score in their respective events.
GRYPHONS RELAYS
Sarah Lawrence began the day winning the 400 yard medley relay, as a team comprised of Peal, Lawson, Mackrel and Corbin combined to finish in 4:24.04.
