Balanced Attack Leads Gryphons to 85-64 Win Over Pratt

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – In the team's final game of 2017, Sarah Lawrence defeated Pratt 85-64 on Sunday at Campbell Sports Center. Four players scored in double-figures in the victory.

Sarah Lawrence attacked the basket with authority in the opening minutes, scoring its first eight field goals in the paint to open up a 16-2 lead. Pratt trimmed the deficit to single digits using a 12-7 run, capped off with back-to-back baskets from Andrew Yaglenski (23-14). The Gryphons pushed their lead back to 13 (30-17), using field goals from Enike Anyia (Los Angeles, Calif./Wilbraham & Monson Academy), Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy). Sarah Lawrence built up a 39-25 advantage with 1:14 remaining, but six straight points from the Cannoneers made the score 39-31 heading into the locker room.

Sarah Lawrence shot 53-percent in the opening frame, as rookies Anyia (13) and Kaleb Robinson (Las Vegas, Nev./Deerfield Academy (Mass.)) (8) combined to score 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

The Gryphons scored the first six points of the second half, including a three-point play from Anyia, to open up a 15-point lead (46-31). Pratt cut its deficit to nine (47-38), but Sarah Lawrence countered by outscoring the Cannoneers 24-4 over 8:47 to open up its largest lead of the game (71-42). The run was powered by eight points from BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) and seven from Robinson.

Sarah Lawrence maintained its 20-point advantage for the remainder of the half en route to picking up the victory in the squad's non-conference finale.

Four players reached double-figures for Pratt, including Vanka Vishal, who scored a team-high 18 points.

The Gryphons are unbeaten in their last six meetings against the Cannoneers.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMANCES
Anyia, the Skyline Rookie of the Week, finished with a game-high 21 points, tying his career-high. The first-year also contributed eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.

Robinson posted a career-high 15 points in the win, while classmate Isaiah Pean (Spring Valley, N.Y./Dwight-Englewood) contributed 11 points, also a career-best. Segal once again showed his defensive prowess, recording six steals. Segal has recorded at least one swipe in nine games this season, including six games of three of more.
