PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team suffered a 80-72 loss at Purchase Saturday in a Skyline matchup at Purchase Gymnasium.

It was a back and forth opening period that featured six lead changes and six ties. Knotted at 33 in the final minute, the Panthers made a pair of free throws to take the lead, but the Gryphons countered with a triple from
Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) to regain their advantage (36-35). Purchase took a 37-36 edge into intermission after Deshawn Cann made a layup as time expired.
Enike Anyia (Los Angeles, Calif./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) was perfect from the field in the first half, going 5-of-5 with 14 points, 4 rebounds and three assists.
Purchase pulled away in the second half, outscoring Sarah Lawrence 19-6 over the opening 5:34 to build its largest lead of the evening. Sarah Lawrence closed the margin to eight after scoring the final seven points of the contest.
After tallying a season-best 18 points in Thursday's win over Merchant Marine, Segal poured in 24 points, nailing 8-of-15 from behind the arc. The team captain also contributed two steals.
Anyia finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while
BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) reached double figures for the fifth time this season, posting 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) paced the Gryphons with five helpers.
