KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's swimming team lost a 132-76 decision Saturday to Merchant Marine at O'Hara Hall Pool.
GRYPHON VICTORIES
Naima Mackrel (Woodstock, N.Y./Kingston), the Skyline Women's Swimmer of the Week, was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke. Owner of the Skyline's fastest mark in the race, the sophomore finished in 1:01.32. Mackrel was also the runner-up in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.84.
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) won the 100 yard breaststroke, completing the race in 1:15.20. Lawson also finished second in the 200 yard IM, touching the wall in 2:30.75.
TOP GRYPHON PERFORMANCES
Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was the runner-up in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 1:09.20, while Andrea Corbin (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a mark of 1:02.34.
GRYPHON RELAYS
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, a team of Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento), Lila Brustad (Navarre, Fla./Home School ), Maryanna Roughton and Caitie Adler (Pikesville, Md./Wilde Lake) picked up the win.
In the 200 yard medley relay, a team comprised of Mackrel, Peal, Lawson and Corbin finished second in 1:59.88.

Sarah Lawrence will return to action in 2018, competing at the Winter Relay Meet in Palm Beach Garden, Florida, on Jan. 9.
