Men's Basketball Travels to Purchase

Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y.—Four Gryphons scored in double figures, but Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was defeated by Purchase College, 73-68, in Skyline action at PC Gymnasium on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS
Senior co-captain Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) converted on a pair of three-point attempts to give the Gryphons an early 8-2 advantage. Sophomore Gabriel Eng (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beacon School) scored a three-pointer later in the period to hand the Green and White their largest lead at 19-12. Gilleran drained another trey to lift the team to a 22-15 lead. From there, the Panthers took control for the remainder of the period and held a 38-29 lead at halftime.

After the break, Sarah Lawrence was scoreless for six minutes, falling behind 53-29. The Gryphons responded with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 53-38. Eng drained a three-point basket that brought the gap to single digits, 57-48, with just under eight minutes to play. Sarah Lawrence came within five points of the Panthers on several occasions, and in the final minute, rookie BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) made a layup to pull within one possession, 71-68. The Gryphons had a few more opportunities, but Purchase held on to win by five.

TOP GRYPHONS
Gilleran, the Sarah Lawrence program's all-time leading scorer, led the Gryphons with 17 points, adding six rebounds and two assists. Eng made four treys to finish on 12 points, while Sanders had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Senior Jeff Jordan II (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) also reached double figures with 10 points, while sophomore Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) scored nine points and tallied six rebounds and four assists.

Rookie Joseph Kleeman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Arapahoe) posted team-highs with six assists and three steals, adding four rebounds. Sophomore Parker Hagmaier (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) made contributions with five points.

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence travels to Maritime College (N.Y.) on Tuesday. The Gryphons return home for their season finale against Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, Feb. 18.
