Women’s Swimming Wins Nine Events in 123-61 Victory at Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – In the final dual meet of the season, the Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming team won nine events in a 123-61 victory at College of Staten Island Saturday at Staten Island's Sports and Recreation Center.

Naima Mackrel (Woodstock, N.Y./Kingston) took first-place in two events, winning the 50 yard freestyle (25.63) and 100 yard freestyle (1:01.26).

Andrea Corbin (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) was the top performer in two races, winning the 400 yard IM in 5:42.71 and the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:57.86.

Catie Adler was victorious in the 200 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 3:11.17, while Devon Peal (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) won the 200 yard backstroke with a mark of 2:26.74.

Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) was the top swimmer in the 200 yard freestyle, winning the event in 2:19.01. The senior was also a runner-up in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:56.90.

Sarah Lawrence won each of its relays on the day. In the 400 yard medley relay, a team of Leah Myrtil (Boston, Mass./Elizabeth Seton Academy), Lawson, Adler and Corbin won the race in 4:51.13. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, a team of Peal, Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento), Lila Brustad (Navarre, Fla./Home School ) and Mackrel was victorious with a time of 4:38.86.

UP NEXT
The Gryphons will now prepare for the 2018 Skyline Swimming Championships on Jan. 26-27 at Purchase College.
