Old Westbury Gets Past Sarah Lawrence, 57-48

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Old Westbury pulled away late in the second half to defeat Sarah Lawrence College 57-48 Tuesday in a Skyline matchup at Campbell Sports Center.

RECAP
It was a back and forth affair to begin the contest, including two ties and six lead changes, but a pair of spurts from the Panthers gave them a 32-25 lead with 1:15 remaining in the period. Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) knocked down a triple in the final minute, shrinking the deficit to four heading into halftime (32-28).

In the second half, the Gryphons came out swinging, scoring the first eight points of the period while holding the Panthers scoreless for 6:44 to take a 36-32 edge. Old Westbury tied the game with four straight points, but a bucket from BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) put Sarah Lawrence back out in front (38-36). Old Westbury tied the game once again with 11:39 remaining in regulation (38-38).

The Panthers pulled away, finishing the game outscoring the Gryphons 19-10 to pick up the victory.

GRYPHON PERFORMANCES
Enike Anyia (Los Angeles, Calif./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) posted his fourth double-double of the season, recording 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) reached double-figures for a third straight game, finishing with a team-high 13 points.

Sanders finished with eight points and seven boards, while Jones and Isaiah Pean (Spring Valley, N.Y./Dwight-Englewood) scored seven points apiece.
