Men’s Soccer Sets Program Record in 5-2 Win Over St. Joseph’s Brooklyn on Senior Day

YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team wrapped up its 2018 season on Wednesday with a 5-2 victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Senior Day at Fleming Field. With the win, the Gryphons set a school record for conference victories in a season.

It was Senior Day, and during halftime, Sarah Lawrence Athletics and the Gryphons men's soccer program recognized their season class, featuring Colin Berg, Mohamed Camara, Abe Lange and Lucas Ardaillon Simoes.

Berg gave Sarah Lawrence a 1-0 lead 5:39 into the match, flicking a ball over the goalkeeper's head following a great feed from Tristan Moehs.

Pacqui Pascual scored his first collegiate goal in the 37th minute, finishing from the right side of the box to the near post. Owen Smith was credited with an assist.

St. Joseph's Brooklyn cut into the lead in the 38th minute following a goal from Kenneth Garcia.

Sarah Lawrence scored three more times in the second half. Berg scored his second goal of the contest in the 49th minute, beating the keeper 1-v-1 for his fourth goal of the year. Classmate Camara scored in the 80th minute on a breakaway following a service from Humza Obaid, while Aaron Britton concluded the scoring in the final minute off a feed from Dominic Edwards.

The Gryphons back line did a great in the final game of the season, making timely deflections and clears when the Bears held possession. Aaron Ashery recorded eight saves in the final match of his rookie campaign.

Sarah Lawrence finishes with three conference wins in 2018, a new school record. The Gryphons have won five Skyline contests over the last two seasons after going winless in their first 37 league games.

Sarah Lawrence has won back-to-back games over the Bears and is now 5-2-1 all-time against the Skyline opponent. It was also victory No. 16 for head coach Scott Miller, tying him with Hassan Turner (2009-13) for the most wins in team history.
