Women’s Swimming Finishes Second at SLC/TYR Sprint Carnival

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's swimming team won five events on Saturday, finishing second among seven squads at the Sarah Lawrence/TYR Sprint Carnival at Campbell Sports Center.

GRYPHON VICTORIES
Coming off a strong performance last weekend in a win over Queensborough CC, Drew Lei-Alerta had another great outing on Saturday. She was the top swimmer in the 100 fly, winning in 1:03.69, while taking first in the 100 IM in 1:06.43 and the 50 fly in 28.42. 

Devon Peal was the top performer in the 100 back, winning the race in 1:05.02, edging out Brooklyn's Abby Townsend (1:05.60). The senior was also the runner-up in the 200 IM with a time of 2:32.52 and finished among the top five in the 200 free in 2:15.53.

Sarah Lawrence was the top team in the 200 medley relay, as a team of Peal, Andrea Corbin, Lei-Alerta and Audrey De Szendeffy finished in 2:03.14.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Corbin was the runner-up in the 100 IM in 1:12.19, while posting third-place finishes in the 50 breast (36.36) and 100 breast (1:17.18). 

Caitie Adler cracked the top-five in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 1:14.76. 

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence will travel for the first time this season on Nov. 3, competing at SUNY Cobleskill.
