Stafford Earns Second Skyline Rookie of the Week Honor

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – For a second consecutive week, Sarah Lawrence first year Chaz Stafford has been named Skyline Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.

Stafford broke his own record in the 500 free in a dual meet with Maritime. He was the top swimmer in the race with a time of 4:35.05, shattering his previous best of 4:58.04. The first year initially set the standard in a win at Cobleskill, beating the previous mark of 5:01.29 set by Cameron Martinez in 2015. The rookie followed up his performance with a first-place effort in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:49.21, nine seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Stafford, owner of four school records, also led a 200 medley relay squad set a new team standard with a time of 1:45.83, beating the previous record of 1:45.94.

Sarah Lawrence returns to the pool on Nov. 27 at Old Westbury.
