Jamaleddine Named Skyline Rookie of the Week

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Following a pair of strong performances, Sarah Lawrence first year Omar Jamaleddine has been named Skyline Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. Jamaleddine averaged 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in road games at Yeshiva and Catholic.

In the Gryphons' 91-88 victory over the defending conference champion Maccabees, the first-ever in program history, the rookie scored 19 points, while also contributing six rebounds, two steals and a block. Jamaleddine followed up that performance with a career-high 24 points (10-17 FG) against the Cardinals, while adding eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Jamaleddine has been impressive in his first season at Sarah Lawrence. The first year has appeared in all five games, leading the squad in points (72), points per game (14.4), steals (7) and blocks (4).

Jamaleddine becomes the sixth Gryphon in team history to earn Skyline Rookie of the Week accolades and the second to earn the recognition this season, joining classmate Andrew Varoli.

Sarah Lawrence will make its 2018-19 Campbell Sports Center debut on Tuesday (Nov. 27) against St. Joseph's Long Island at 6 p.m.
