NEW YORK, N.Y. – John Jay used a strong final quarter of play to defeat the Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team, 62-48, Tuesday at The Doghouse.

Camryn Davis scored a team-high 19 points, while posting four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Lauren Cuevas made her season debut, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds and three steals.
Melanie Coleman scored a season-high seven points, while pacing the Gryphons in rebounds (13) and blocks (5).
Calista Fyfe and
Tess Carrier added four points each, while
Alexa Zartman-Ball grabbed seven rebounds.

Sarah Lawrence got off to a strong start, scoring the first seven points of the game, racing out to a 9-2 advantage with 6:05 remaining in the period. John Jay finished the quarter on an 11-3 spurt to take a 13-12 edge.
The Bloodhounds scored the first eight points of the second quarter to open up a 21-12 lead with 4:52 left in the half. Sarah Lawrence chipped away at the deficit, trailing 27-23 at the break.
The Gryphons continued to battle in the second half. Trailing 32-25 with 7:47 left in the third quarter, Sarah Lawrence stormed back, scoring nine unanswered points, capped off by a 3-pointer from Cuevas, to take a 34-32 lead, its first advantage since the opening period.
John Jay regained the lead on a 3-point play, but a layup from Fyfe pushed Sarah Lawrence back in front, 36-35. The Bloodhounds outscored the Gryphons 9-2 over the final 4:45 of the quarter to lead 44-38. John Jay expanded its lead to double digits to begin the final quarter, securing the non-conference victory.
