BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - For a third time this season, Sarah Lawrence first year Chaz Stafford has earned weekly recognition from the Skyline Conference. On Monday, Stafford was named Skyline Men's Swimming Swimmer of the Week.

Stafford earns conference honors following a strong performance at the two-day Hamilton Invitational. The rookie was spectacular at the meet, winning three individual events. 

Stafford, a two-time Skyline Rookie of the Week honoree, was the top swimmer in the 500 free, completing the race in 4:54.08. He also won the 200 free in a field of 31 swimmers, touching the wall in 1:48.93, a season-best.

In the 1,650 free, he finished in 16:50.86, over 30 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, breaking his own school record of 17:06.21. Stafford also broke his own school record in the 1,000 free in the split with a mark of 10:10.16.

Overall, Stafford scored a total of 96 points, tied for the most points scored among all swimmers at the meet.

In addition, he helped a 200 medley relay team post a new school record with a time of 1:41.86, beating the previous best of 1:45.83. He also led a 400 medley squad to a record setting effort, as the team finished in 3:44.73, beating the previous standard of 3:49.53 set in 2016.

Stafford becomes the third Gryphon in team history to earn Skyline Swimmer of the Week accolades, joining Cameron Martinez and teammate Anthony Lee.

Sarah Lawrence returns to the pool on Saturday for a Skyline tri-meet with Purchase and Merchant Marine at Purchase Pool.
