THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball team suffered an 85-77 loss at Maritime Saturday in the season finale for both teams at Riesenberg Gymnasium.

Sarah Lawrence raced out to a 12-3 lead, powered by a pair of steals and scores from
BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep). Sanders connected on each of his first six field goal attempts, leading the Gryphons to a 31-21 advantage with 7:59 remaining in the half. Maritime got it going offensively, outscoring Sarah Lawrence 24-9 to end the period, heading into the locker room with a 45-40 lead.
The Gryphons struggled from the field to begin the second frame, allowing the Privateers to open up a 59-45 lead over the first 5:20 of the half. Sarah Lawrence cut the deficit to single-digits with 2:32 on the clock (81-74), but Maritime answered to push its advantage back to double-figures. The Gryphons shrunk the margin back down to eight in the final minute, but it wasn't enough, as Maritime held on for the 85-77 victory and the season split.
TOP GRYPHON PERFORMANCES
Sanders finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assist in the final game of the season.
Enike Anyia (Los Angeles, Calif./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) recorded 17 points, nine boards, two assists and three steals, while
Luke O'Connor (Northport, N.Y./The Stony Brook School) added 12 points and three rebounds.
Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) posted 11 points, a team-high seven assists, five rebounds, one block and one swipe.
In his final collegiate game,
Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) contributed seven points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
