BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) became the third Gryphon in the NCAA-era to reach 100 hits Saturday, as the Sarah Lawrence College softball team split a Skyline doubleheader with St. Joseph's College Brooklyn at Mary Levine Field. The Gryphons dropped the opening contest, 8-6, but rebounded to win the nightcap, 5-4.

SENIOR DAY
It was Senior Day, and before the game, Sarah Lawrence Athletics and the Gryphons softball program recognized this year's graduating seniors: Em Hammett (Columbus, Ohio/The Wellington School), Kamaron McNair (Lawrence Township, N.J./The Hun School), Sarah Shapiro (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and Vuyovich.

Following the ceremony, Sarah Lawrence College President Cristle Collins Judd threw out the first pitch.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Karissa McAuley (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) batted .429 (3-for-7) with one home run, five RBIs and one run scored, while McNair also batted .429 (3-for-7) with two RBIs and two runs scored. Skyler Vallarta (Brea, Calif./Sonora) finished with three hits and three runs on the afternoon, while Vuyovich, Baylie Petit (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and Tess Carrier (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes) all recorded two hits apiece.

Sarah Lawrence, now winners of a Skyline best and team record 16 wins this season, have won five conference games, a new program best.

Game 1: Sarah Lawrence 6, St. Joseph's Brooklyn 8
The Bears raced out a 4-0 lead after scoring a run in the third inning and three more in the fourth.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off a sweep of Baruch on Friday, plated two runs in the fourth inning, powered by a two-run homer from McAuley, the first of her collegiate career.

The Gryphons scored three more times in the fifth inning to take the lead, fueled by RBI singles from McNair, Petit and McAuley. Vuyovich scored in the frame after notching hit No. 100 in the inning, a hard-hit single to left field.

St. Joseph's Brooklyn answered in the sixth with four runs to regain its advantage. Sarah Lawrence plated one last run in the bottom of the innning thanks to a RBI from McNair, but the Bears collected the outs they needed to secure the win.

Game 2: Sarah Lawrence 5, St. Joseph's Brooklyn 4
Sarah Lawrence got on the board in the opening frame, scoring two runs. For a second consecutive day, Vuyovich led off the contest with a homerun, her fourth of the year. Later in the inning, Mackenzie Mindish (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) scored Vallarta on a sacrifice fly.

The Gryphons tacked on three more runs in the third, featuring a two-run double from McAuley and a RBI single from Tricia McLain (Redding, Calif./Enterprise).

St. Joseph's Brooklyn scored in the fifth, fueled by a two-run home run from Maria Gentile. The Bears shrunk the deficit to one in the sixth inning with a two-run double, but the Gryphons manufactured enough outs to claim the series split.

Delaney Parker (Milford, N.H./Milford) earned her second straight win in the circle, tossing 5.0 innings. The first-year limited the Bears to six hits, allowing two runs. McAuley pitched the final 2.0 innings in relief, holding St. Joseph's to a pair of runs.
