BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College softball team concluded its home schedule Sunday with two games against the College of Mount Saint Vincent at Mary Levine Field. The Dolphins won the opening contest, 12-0, and won the nightcap, 7-3.
TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Karissa McAuley (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) batted .600 (3-for-5) with one RBI, while
Skyler Vallarta (Brea, Calif./Sonora) and
Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) recorded two hits apiece.
Tess Carrier (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes) posted a RBI on the afternoon, while Vuyovich,
Baylie Petit (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and Mackeznie Mindish each scored a run.
Game 1: Sarah Lawrence 0, Mount Saint Vincent 12 (5 innings)
Mount Saint Vincent, coming off a sweep of Old Westbury on Saturday, plated three runs in the second inning, and scored five more runs in the third and four more in the fourth to pick up the win.
Rachel Heizer tossed a complete game, limiting the Gryphons to four hits in the contest.
Game 2: Sarah Lawrence 3, Mount Saint Vincent 7
Mount Saint Vincent raced out to a 4-0 lead after scoring three runs in the second inning and another in the third.
Sarah Lawrence got a run back in the third inning, thanks to a two-out RBI single from McAuley. The Gryphons closed the margin to one in the fourth inning with two more runs. Carrier singled to center to score Petit, while Mindish stole home.
The Dolphins added insurance in the sixth and seventh frames, combining to score three runs en route to picking up the series sweep.
