Men’s Tennis Defeats St. Joseph’s Brooklyn, 5-4, For First Win of the Season

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis team got in the win column Saturday, defeating St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 5-4, at USTA National Tennis Center.

GRYPHONS VICTORIES
Sarah Lawrence was victorious in two of three doubles matches. In No. 2 doubles, a team of Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) and Ben Dougherty (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beacon School) won their match by an 8-4 decision. In No. 3 doubles, William Kellogg (San Diego, Calif./High Tech International) and Kaleb Robinson, making his season debut, defeated a tandem of Jack Dominics and Stephane Etheart, 8-4.

Francesco Lagioia (Rome, Italy/Lincoln American School of Buenos Aires) picked up his first win of the year in No. 2 singles, winning his match 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Dougherty was dominate in No. 4 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1, win.

In the final singles match of the evening, Kellogg scored the decisive point for the Gryphons, battling to a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) victory.

With the win, Sarah Lawrence improves to 9-2 all-time against the Bears.
