Staten Island Defeats Men’s Soccer

YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss Wednesday to Staten Island at Tibbetts Brook Park.

RECAP
The Gryphons opened the contest with a strong defensive effort, fending off nine early shot attempts from the Dolphins. Aaron Ashery, who got the start in goal, made an impressive save in the 11th minute to keep the sheet clean. He recorded seven stops in one half of play.

Staten Island, who entered the day with wins over Skyline opponents St. Joseph's Long Island and St. Joseph's Brooklyn, got on the board in the 21st minute, when John Como scored off a corner kick from Joe Bolella. The Dolphins scored one last time before intermission, when Bryant Navarro found the back of the net in the 44th minute.

Staten Island scored two more times in the second half. Breny Salas scored in the 51st minute off a cross from Como, while Alex Sosa scored off a free kick to the far post in the 60th minute.

The Dolphins peppered the Gryphons with shots throughout the evening, taking 29 attempts, including 14 on target.
