BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team opened Skyline play Thursday, hosting Farmingdale State at Campbell Sports Center. The Rams defeated the Gryphons in straight sets.

RECAP
Farmingdale State, picked second in the Skyline Preseason Poll, faced deficits in each of the first two sets. In the opening game, Sarah Lawrence held a 24-20 advantage, but the Rams used five straight points to take the lead. The Gryphons managed to knot the contest at 25, but Farmingdale prevailed to win, 28-26.
Sarah Lawrence, who entered the day winners of three consecutive matches, jumped out to an 18-13 edge in the second set, but the Rams again mounted a comeback with nine unanswered points to take the lead for good and win, 25-20, for a 2-0 series lead. Farmingdale State completed the sweep, cruising to a 25-14 win in the final game.
Melanie Coleman paced the Gryphons with eight kills, while
Isabel Pecora registered team-highs in assists (17) and aces (3).
Lauren Kilroy recorded 13 digs in the loss.
Cat Ramey finished with six kills and a pair of aces, while Lucy Decarlo added four kills, one ace and a block.

Sarah Lawrence returns to action on Oct. 3 with a match against Mount Saint Vincent at Campbell Sports Center. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
