Men’s Basketball Ties Program Record for Wins; Posts Third Straight #SkylineMBB Win at CMSV

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team won its third straight game Tuesday, defeating Mount Saint Vincent, 77-65, at Peter Jay Sharp Center. With the victory, the Gryphons improve to 10-7 overall with an 8-4 mark in Skyline play, tying the program record for wins.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Enike Anyia led the way for Sarah Lawrence, notching his eighth double-double of the season. Anyia, the MBWA Division II-III Honorable Mention of the Week, posted 24 points and 11 rebounds while handing out four assists. 
Omar Jamaleddine had a solid outing, contributing a double-double of his own with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

BJ Sanders finished with 12 points and three rebounds, while Austin Jones chipped in with 10 points, four boards and three assists.

Andrew Varoli scored nine points and grabbed a season-high five boards, while Isaiah Pean secured four rebounds in a season-high 32 minutes of action.

The Gryphons' 10 wins tie the mark set in 2013-14, the Gryphons' final season as members of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off back-to-back Skyline victories, controlled the first half of play.

The Gryphons maintained a double-digit first half lead for much of the period, led by 14 points from Anyia and 12 from Jamaleddine. Sarah Lawrence out-rebounded the Dolphins 23-7, including a 5-1 margin in offensive boards, resulting in 10 second chance points.

Mount Saint Vincent trimmed its deficit to six (29-23) with 4:06 remaining in the half, but Sarah Lawrence finished the stanza on a 9-2 spurt, taking a 38-25 advantage into the break.

Strong free throw shooting aided the Gryphons in the opening half, knocking down 16-of-18 attempts.

The Dolphins made a furious comeback to begin the second half, opening the period on a 14-1 run to tie the game 39-39 with 16:36 left in regulation.

Sarah Lawrence answered with a run of its own, using a 17-2 spurt over 4:51, highlighted by 11 unanswered points, to hold a 56-42 lead with 11:45 remaining.

Mount Saint Vincent did not go away, scoring eight straight points to shrink the margin to single digits (56-50) with 9:50 left on the clock.

Following a timeout, the Gryphons pulled away for good, scoring nine unanswered points (65-50), while outscoring the Dolphins 21-15 the rest of the way to secure the team's third straight win. 

Sarah Lawrence did a great job stifling the Dolphins' offense, as Mount Saint Vincent shot just 28-percent from the field.
