NEW YORK, N.Y. – Enike Anyia continues to rack up the accolades in his sophomore season, as the forward was named Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II-III Player of the Week, announced by the organization on Tuesday. He is now a two-time recipient of the award.

The MBWA designations, for games played Jan. 14-20, are unique in that they encompass players from 73 Met area schools across NCAA Divisions I, II and III.

This announcement comes one day after Anyia received Skyline Player of the Week laurels for a second time in three weeks. It's the third consecutive week that Anyia has received recognition from both the Skyline Conference and MBWA.

Anyia led Sarah Lawrence to a 2-0 week, averaging 25.5 points on 59-percent shooting, while posting 7.5 rebounds per outing. His performances led to wins over Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase.

In the squad's 77-65 victory against the Dolphins, Anyia finished with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds, posting his eighth double-double of the season. In the Gryphons' 79-77 win over the Panthers, he scored a game-best 27 points.

Anyia has been steady for Sarah Lawrence this season, starting every game. The sophomore leads the team in several categories, including points per game (18.1), rebounds per game (9.6), minutes per game (33.8) and field goal percentage (.600), which is also the top mark in the Skyline.

Most importantly, Anyia has led Sarah Lawrence to an 11-7 record this season, the most wins in team history, with a 9-4 mark against Skyline opponents. Picked to finish ninth in the Preseason Poll, the Gryphons are currently in third-place in the league standings.

Sarah Lawrence returns to the floor on Wednesday (Jan. 23) at Merchant Marine. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
