BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – One day after becoming the first Gryphon in program history to be named Skyline Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Sarah Lawrence sophomore Enike Anyia added another "first" to his career on Tuesday, being selected as the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II-III Player of the Week.

The MBWA designations, for games played Dec. 31 – Jan. 6, encompass players from 73 Met area programs across Divisions I, II and III.

Anyia becomes the third Gryphon in school history to earn recognition from the MBWA, joining Malin Segal (2016-17) and Parker Hagmaier (2015-16). Segal and Hagmaier were each honorable mentions.

Anyia adds another highlight to an already blossoming career at Sarah Lawrence following a week in which he averaged 31.0 points and 12.0 rebounds. The forward recorded a game-high 32 points in a victory over Farmingdale State, the squad's first-ever win over the Rams, tying the school record for points in a game. He made 12 field goals in the contest, a program best, while contributing team-highs in rebounds (9) and steals (4).

Anyia followed up his strong performance on Long Island with another 30-point effort against Old Westbury, becoming the first Gryphon to score 30 or more points on more than one occasion. He went 14-of-20 from the free throw line, both team records, while grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds.

Anyia has guided Sarah Lawrence to its best start ever with a 7-6 record and 5-3 mark against Skyline opponents, its most conference wins in a season in team history.
