RECAP
Monday's victory was win No. 10 on the year, surpassing last season's win total. Sarah Lawrence has improved its win total in each season under head coach
Maurizio Grillo, as the Gryphons become the first squad in the Skyline Conference to reach double-digit victories.
It was also the Gryphons' sixth home win of the year, a new team standard. Sarah Lawrence finished 5-2 against non-conference opponents this season, its best mark against out-of-league foes in program history.
Sarah Lawrence, coming off a 2-1 win over Purchase on Saturday, the team's first-ever road win over the Panthers, took 18 shots in the opening half of play, but were unable to find the back of the net.
That changed in the second half, as the Gryphons broke through at the 50:30 mark with a score.
Tiffany McBrayer played a through ball to
Haley Willibey, who made a move around the goalkeeper before finishing into the net. The duo teamed up for another goal 1:29 later. McBrayer played a corner kick to the far post, while Willibey sprinted towards the box for the running finish.
McBrayer scored a goal of her own in the 70th minute, ripping a shot from outside the box over the outstretched arms of the keeper to the far left post.
Niki Dalrymple was credited with an assist.
Emily Cornejo had a quiet evening in goal, not needing to make a save. Credit the Sarah Lawrence back line, as they held Brooklyn without a shot attempt until the 59th minute. It's the Gryphons' fifth clean sheet of the year.
Overall, Sarah Lawrence outshot the Bulldogs 31-3, including a 17-0 margin in attempts on target.
The Gryphons have now defeated Brooklyn in back-to-back meetings, outscoring the Bulldogs, 12-1.
