RECAP
Sarah Lawrence, coming off back-to-back league wins over Old Westbury and Maritime, held up defensively in the opening half against a Farmingdale State squad that has represented the Skyline Conference in the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons. The Rams took 26 shot attempts in the first half, including eight attempts on target. Goalkeeper
Madison Mertsch stopped all eight attempts on frame, including a critical stop in the 39th minute.
The Gryphons, who entered the match 6-1 all-time against Skyline opponents on Fleming Field, continued to hold up defensively to begin the second half, but Farmingdale broke through in the 54th minute, as Julissa Martinez poked in a shot to the near post following a scramble in the box.
The Rams scored once more in the 63rd minute, as Meagan Murdocco played a ball from Edasia Martinez, ripping a shot from the top of the box to the right side of the netting.
Sarah Lawrence took all three of its shot attempts in the second period, including one from
Tiffany McBrayer in the 82nd minute on a free kick that sailed over the crossbar.
