OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss Wednesday to Old Westbury at Panther Park.

The two teams battled in muddy and slippery conditions at Panther Park, struggling to find their footing throughout the match.
Old Westbury, picked fifth in the Skyline Preseason Poll, found the back of the net 3:55 before halftime, when Michael Gilligan flicked in a header to the near post following a corner kick from Grixon Moreira.
The Panthers scored twice more in the final 3:58 of the match. Gilligan scored again at the 86:02 mark, followed by a goal from Moreira 2:27 later.
Overall, Old Westbury outshot Sarah Lawrence 14-4, including a 9-1 margin in attempts on frame.
Humza Obaid put the Gryphons' lone attempt on target in the 28th minute.
Aaron Ashery and
Matteo Romano split time in net, each playing one half. Ashery started the first half, making four stops, while Romano played the second period, recording two saves.
"Tough result for us today in a well-played, physical battle in the rain," said head coach
Evan Brandsdorfer. "We fought hard from the opening whistle to the last. It was a 1-0 game until the final moments when we went all out for the tie. We take some positives out of the game and now look forward to another big challenge on Saturday."
