Peal Breaks 7-Year Old Team Record on Final Day of Metropolitan Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sarah Lawrence senior Devon Peal broke a seven-year old school record Sunday on the final day of the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers Aquatic Center. The Gryphons finished the three-day meet 11th among 17 teams with 262 points.

PEAL SETS NEW SCHOOL RECORD
Peal had the Gryphons' best finish in her final collegiate meet. The senior finished 5th in the 200 back, turning in a finals time of 2:09.65. A two-time Skyline All-Conference performer in the event, the senior surpassed the previous best of 2:10.41 recorded by Ariana Peschke in 2012.

GRYPHON PLACE WINNERS
Drew Lei-Alerta finished 8th in the 200 fly, touching the wall in 2:16.26, while Audrey de Szendeffy finished 17th in the 1650 free with a finals time of 19:59.56, a personal-record.

Caitie Adler took the 22nd position in the 200 breast, finishing with a finals time of 2:47.97.

In the 400 free relay, a team of Lei-Alerta, Eimile Briggs, Szendeffy and Peal finished 13th with a finals time of 3:55.42.
