Willibey’s Second Half Goal Leads Women’s Soccer Past Mount Saint Vincent, 1-0

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Haley Willibey found the back of the net in the 69th minute to lead the Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Mount Saint Vincent Wednesday at CMSV's Athletic Field at Marillac. It is the Gryphons' first-ever win over the Dolphins.

IN SHORT
Sarah Lawrence (6-2, 2-0) def. Mount Saint Vincent (3-3-1, 0-1), 1-0.

RECAP
Willibey's sixth goal of her collegiate career proved to be golden, as the first-year capitalized on an empty net following a cross from Niki Dalrymple.

The shot from Willibey was one of two attempts from Sarah Lawrence in the second half, but proved enough as the back line of the Gryphons provided another clean sheet, their fourth of the season.

Emily Cornejo made three saves in the win, including a stop in the 68th minute to secure her third shutout of the year. Maddie Mertsch played the final 13:42 of the match in goal.

It was a highly contested battle between two of the Skyline's top squads, as the programs entered the game with records above .500. Mount Saint Vincent was picked to finish fourth in the Preseason Poll with 62 points, while Sarah Lawrence was selected fifth with 61. It was the Gryphons' first-ever win over the Dolphins, as the squad entered the day 0-6 all-time against the conference foe.

Sarah Lawrence continues its hot start to the season, currently standing at 6-2. The Gryphons are off to a 2-0 start in league play for the first time in team history.
