YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 Skyline women's soccer contest to Mount Saint Mary Saturday at Fleming Field.

Sarah Lawrence hung in tough defensively for much of the opening half against a Mount Saint Mary squad that entered the day with 10 first half scores. However, the Knights, picked second in the Skyline Preseason Poll, poked one in 3:19 before halftime, as Nicky Carter tapped in a shot for the game's first score.
The Gryphons continued to battle in the second half, as the Knights continued to pepper the Sarah Lawrence defense with attempts. Mount Saint Mary tacked on one more goal in the 82nd minute, as Nicky Wurglics flicked in a header off a cross from Gina Rivera.
Despite conceding two goals,
Madison Mertsch had a solid performance in net, making a season-high 12 saves.
Mount Saint Mary controlled possession much of the evening, outshooting Sarah Lawrence 25-4, including a 14-2 margin in attempts on frame. The Gryphons' best look of the evening came in the 64th minute on a header from Lainie Cadiuex, but the keeper made the stop to preserve the shutout.
