PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis team defeated Purchase College in the Skyline Conference semifinals 5-4 on Wednesday night, securing a spot in the conference championship on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's match will be the first Skyline Conference finals appearance in SLC women's tennis history.
Simi Rao and
Isabella Hardman won #1 doubles 8-0. Rao's victory cemented the final score, winning the match for the Gryphons.
Rao and Hardman then went on to grab victories in No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Both matches went to three games. Rao won 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. Hardman won 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.
In No. 3 singles,
Sasha Conner was victorious 6-0, 6-3.
Sophie Holmes earned the last singles triumph for the Gryphons, winning No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-4.
The Gryphons will face the Farmingdale State Rams in the Skyline Conference Championship on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m.
