PATCHOGUE, N.Y. –
Lily Matalus found the back of the net in 102nd minute of action, lifting the Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over St. Joseph's College of Long Island on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Gryphons clinched a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Gryphons 8-2 in the first half.
Bridgette Lee recorded seven saves through the first 45 minutes.
Despite trailing in shots, 8-4 in the second half, the Gryphons did allow St. Joe's to break through.
Maya Pfeiffer got the nod in for the second half. The sophomore keeper made four saves.
After 90 minutes, the teams were tied at zero.
Pfeiffer added two more saves in the first overtime period. Nearly three minutes before the final whistle in the second overtime, Matalus took advantage of a dropped ball by the keeper, tapping it in the net and ending the match.
