Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Volleyball Opens Season at NJCU

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Sarah Lawrence College volleyball team returned to action on Sunday afternoon, taking on New Jersey City University in a double-header. The Gryphons were defeated by the Gothic Knights 3-0 in both contests.

This year's SLC squad is comprised of players from the men's volleyball team, along with members of the women's volleyball team who lost their fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MATCH 1
The Gryphons grabbed an early 3-2 lead with a service ace from Gabrielle Hegedus. NJCU jumped out to a two-point advantage and maintained the edge for the remainder of the first set. Nate Davis recorded three of his team-leading eight kills in the second set. Juan Paris and Kaille Ferguson had back-to-back kills in the third set. Fegurson had a team-high 10 digs in the first match. Mia Rector set up her teammates well, tallying six assists.

MATCH 2
Davis Mathis was the main facilitator for the Gryphons in the second match. The sophomore recorded seven assists across three sets. Nate Davis was the team-leader in kills once again, posting six. He also led SLC in digs with six. Lance De Leoz and Aaron Ashery each tallied one block assist.

UP NEXT
SLC takes on Yeshiva University on Thursday, March 18 for the Gryphons' home opener. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
