YONKERS, N.Y. –
Pacqui Pascual scored twice for the Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer team, leading the charge for the Gryphons in their 3-1 victory over the Medgar Evers College Cougars on Monday night.
TALKING POINTS
- For Pascual, the goals marked his first two of the season. The first one was set up by a cross from Dylan Bernard.
- Yusef Maftoon found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career.
- Kian Silva notched his second win of the season between the pipes, making some key stops to keep the Gryphons ahead.

FIRST HALF
The teams were evenly matched for the first 45 minutes, resulting in a scoreless draw at the break. Silva saved three shots. The Gryphons went into the intermission with a one-shot advantage.
SECOND HALF
The game opened up for both teams in the second half. At the 52:38 mark,
Dylan Bernard played a wonderful ball into the box, finding the head of Pascual. The senior guided the ball over the outstretched arms of the Cougars' keeper, giving the Gryphons the 1-0 edge.
A Medgar Evers PK knotted the score at the 68-minute mark.
Sarah Lawrence responded quickly, retaking the lead six minutes later when Pacqui capitalized on a penalty. The icing on the cake was the Maftoon goal in the final minute of play. The first-year from Chantilly, Va. let one rip with his right foot, beating the Medgar Evers goalie on his right side.
