JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer team went up against New Jersey City University on Wednesday afternoon. The Gryphons fell to the Gothic Knights 2-0.
NCJU earned a penalty kick five minutes into the match.
Matteo Romano dove to his right, stopping the PK and keeping the score even at zero. The Gothic Knights found the back of the net three minutes later.
Simon Kopecky fired off the first shot of the afternoon for the Gryphons. Romano made two more saves late in the first half to keep the deficit at two.
The Gryphons' defense tightened up after the intermission, holding the Gothic Knights scoreless.
Yusef Maftoon and
Joe Dye recorded shots in the second half but NJCU held its two-goal advantage for the remainder of the match.
