RIVERDALE, N.Y. –
Justin Bailey went for his sixth double-double of the season, recording 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball team as the Gryphons faced off against The College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Wednesday night. SLC fell to CMSV 79-65.
SLC built up an early lead, holding a 13-9 advantage nearly seven minutes into the contest. From there, the Dolphins ripped off a 10-0 run, going up by six at the midway point of the first half. The margin grew to double-digits over the next five minutes, but Joshua Capella found
Xiyuan Zhang for a three-pointer at the 4:14 mark, cutting the deficit to seven. CMSV ended the quarter on an 11-4 run, heading into the break ahead by 12.
The margin stayed above 10 for the first five minutes of the second half. The Gryphons narrowed the gap to nine with a 7-0 run featuring baskets from
Lucas Murray,
Amos Grey, and
Joshua Capellan.
CMSV responded with a 7-0 run of its own, swelling the lead to 16 with just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
A second 7-0 run from Gryphons brought the margin to within single-digits at the 10:11 mark. That was smallest margin for the rest of the night. CMSV outscored SLC 20-15 over the last 10 minutes, sealing the victory.
