YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer team put 10 shots on goal, but the Gryphons would ultimately fall to Purchase College by a 2-1 tally on Saturday at Fleming Field.
SLC (5-5-1, 1-3-1 Skyline Conference) got on the scoreboard first thanks to
Leon Bronshvag collecting his second goal of the season. Bronshvag's netter was off an assist from
Peter Miles just 14:13 into the first half.
The Panthers (4-5-0, 1-3-0 Skyline) answered at the 33:01 mark of the first half with a goal by Marlon Matute.
The score would remain 1-1 through the remainder of the first half and the first 12 minutes of the second half before SLC was called for a foul inside their own box setting up a penalty kick opportunity for Purchase.
Ethan Dillon stepped up to the spot and delivered for the opposition giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead that would eventually be the final margin of victory.
Purchase's Travis Stella and SLC's
Kian Silva were both stellar in net for their respective squads with the Gryphons putting 10 shots on goal and Stella stopping eight while Silva turned away six of the eight he faced.
