Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated in Skyline Conference

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer team exploded for three goals in a span of 5:52 midway through the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over the previous Skyline Conference points leader Manhattanville College.

The Gryphons (9-3-1, 6-0-0 Skyline) remain undefeated in the Skyline Conference with the victory extending their winning streak to five and passes Manhattanville (5-7-1, 5-2-1 Skyline) for first place with 18 conference points pending the result of the Farmingdale State at Purchase match later on Wednesday night.

The nine wins for the Gryphons ties the number of victories they had all of last season and is the second most in a single season along with 2021 and 2018. The program record for wins in a season was set in 2019 with 14 victories in 19 attempts.

Grace Carter made her only shot of the evening count when she one-timed a pass from about 27-yards out to the upper right corner of the goal off the outstretched hands of Manhattanville goalie Macey Girard.

The goal for the 5-foot-6 first-year midfielder from Washington, D.C., is her third of the season and second in as many matches after recording a goal in SLC's 8-0 convincing win over Purchase on Sunday.

Viktoria Balbin scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal less than two minutes later when she tallied her fifth goal of her rookie collegiate career to tie Hannah Chaffin for second place in goals for the Gryphons.

Cat Faville gave the Gryphons an insurance goal when she took a looping pass from Emma Floyd and shot it from the right side to the upper left to tickle the twine giving SLC a 3-0 lead.

The Gryphons knew they were in for a battle in the second half against a team that was ahead in the conference standings prior to kickoff and battled to maintain the 3-0 lead for the majority of the second half.

The Valiants finally cracked the scoreboard at the 75:09 mark of the second half on a Morgan Passley header off a corner kick from Natalie Aracena.
