Men's Soccer Plays to 2-2 Draw Against CMSV

Dye Scores Two Goals Off Bronshvag Assists

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Leon Broschvag connected with Joe Dye for a pair of second half goals to spur on the Sarah Lawrence College men's soccer team to a second half comeback in a 2-2 draw over the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday evening.

The tie gave both teams one point in the Skyline Conference standings as the Gryphons got to play spoiler in not allowing the Dolphins to take possession of third place. CMSV is now in a tie with Mount Saint Mary with 15 points each just one behind Merchant Marine for third.

SLC (5-7-4, 1-5-4 Skyline) was outshot 17-1 in the first half with goalie Kian Silva making five saves out of the six shots on goal the Dolphins (5-4-3, 4-2-3 Skyline) managed.

The one stoppage Silva did not make was in the 41st minute when CMSV's Tyrone Malango tallied the game's first goal putting his team up 1-0.

The Dolphins looked to have earned an insurmountable second goal at the 63:46 mark in the second half when Nicholas Guradino sent a looping ball from near the left back corner of the penalty box to the right-side netting over a leaping Silva.

The Gryphons stepped up their offensive pressure on set pieces and was able to convert for the first time just 6:12 after falling down 2-0.

Bronschvag took a free kick from just inside the midfield stripe and sent the ball deep into CMSV's penalty area where he found the head of Dye who sent a low ball to the right corner just past the Dolphins' Joel Luna.

Ten minutes later and the players, coaches and fans at the picturesque Athletic Field at Marillac had to think they were experiencing déjà vu when CMSV was once again called for a foul just inside its own defensive half of the midfield circle allowing for Bronschvag to send another big boot toward the penalty box where Dye was waiting to head the ball to the lower right portion of the goal to knot it up at 2-2.

The two goals from Dye were the first two of his career in a SLC uniform. The assists from Bronschvag were his team leading fifth and sixth assists of the year, tying the single season assist record set in 2012.

The Dolphins attempted to earn a full three points for a win and pelted five shots 6:17 including two on goal but Silva was up to task saving both to preserve the tie.

CMSV may have outshot SLC including a 12-5 shots-on-goal advantage as well as an edge in corker kicks 5-0, but the most important stat was what the scoreboard read at as the final horn sounded and that was a 2-2 tie.

Silva finished the day with 10 saves, which is a tie for the season high in that category. The other 10-save performance for Silva came on Sept. 12 against New Jersey City University.
