Gryphons Continue Flawless Skyline Run with 3-0 Victory

YONKERS, N.Y. – A dominating 3-0 victory by the Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer team over visiting U.S. Merchant Marine Academy coupled with a Farmingdale State tie with Manhattanville has the Gryphons positioned as front-runners for a regular-season Skyline Conference championship.

SLC (11-3-2, 8-0-1 Skyline) is now just one point behind Farmingdale State in the Skyline standings, with two matches remaining for the Gryphons while FSC has just one more to go.

The Gryphons got out to a quick 2-0 lead against USMMA (8-6-1, 3-6-1 Skyline) with just 10:03 off the clock in the first half.

SLC's Viktoria Balbin got the scoring started with her sixth goal of the season on a beautiful finish past USMMA goalie Margaret Ripperger merely 4:34 into the contest.

In only took 5:29 of additional clock time in order to extend the lead when Cora Colvin assisted on Grace Carter's fourth goal of the year. The assist was Colvin's fifth assist of the season.

USMMA (8-6-1, 3-6-1) saw its postseason hopes end with the loss as the Mariners did not record a shot on goal until the 75th minute that was saved by the defensive unit for the Gryphons and finished with just two as SLC's Maya Pfeiffer tallied one save in the 81st minute.

Ripperger, on the other hand, was forced to make 13 saves in order to keep the score respectable as SLC put up 33 shots total with 16 on goal.

Lainie Cadieux's fifth goal of the season was the nail in the coffin as the Gryphons took an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the 88th minute. Cat Faville was credited with her third assist of the season on the play.
