BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming team won six of 12 individual or relay events led by
Katherine McKane's four first places en route to a dominating performance at the SLC Sprint Carnival in the Campbell Sports Center Pool.

Eva Guarda Vazquez got the event start with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:01.44.
SLC took a second event victory in as many attempts to opening the Sprint Carnival as
Olivia Anton used a time of 2:09.93 to take the 200-yard individual freestyle race.
McKane, who is a breaststroke specialist, clearly showed her talents in the 50-yard breaststroke event taking first place honors with a time of 32.85 before getting a few races off before taking another breaststroke event this time in the 100-yard distance with the third fastest time in school history in the event with a 1:12.00.
McKane's fourth and final event win of the Sprint Carnival was in the next-to-last event of the day in the 100-yard individual medley relay as she led a contingent of three Gryphons to finish in the top four. McKane's victory was in a time of a 1:05.79 while Chiappetta's third-place time of 1:12.62 narrowly edged teammate
Ella Hernan, who touched the wall at 1:12.63.
The other individual event win for the Gryphons was Talma's victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.24, while Chiapetta finished slightly behind in second place with a time of 1:08.38.
SLC got at least a second-place finish in the six remaining races as the Gryphons bested all four opponents in the team points competitions. The Gryphons defeated William Paterson 128-79, Western Connecticut State 159-43, Purchase 166-29 and Bard College 157-59.
The second place finishes were in the 50-yard backstroke (Hernan – 31.32), 50-yard freestyle (
Krista Burgess – 27.90), 100-yard freestyle (Burgess – 1:01.90), 100-yard backstroke (Chiappetta – 1:08.64), 50-yard butterfly (Talma – 27.91) and 200-yard freestyle relay (Talma, Anton, Hernan and Guarda Vazquez – 1:51.53).
In the men's competition, SLC took the one event in which it competed in as teammates Dylan Bernard (30.58), Nicholas Fajardo (37.96) and Ralph Calle-Schultz (44.47) took the top three spots scoring 16 points in the team competition.

The SLC men's swimming team will host Manhattan College on Monday, Oct. 24, with the first event getting underway at 8 p.m. EDT while the women's team will next compete on Saturday, Oct. 29, on the road at St. Joseph's-Long Island in a tri-meet against SJLI and John Jay College at 1 p.m. EDT.
