NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Simi Rao and
Carrie Sun won for the fourth consecutive time in the No.-1 doubles flight, but it was not enough to carry the Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis team to victory as the Gryphons lost 7-2 to host Mount Saint Mary at the MSMC Tennis Courts.
Rao and Sun took down MSMC's Sadie McNair and Julia Flynn 8-7 (7-4), but SLC was find itself down 2-1 in the team competition after doubles play concluded.
The Gryphons (2-8, 1-4 Skyline) lone other team point also came from the racquet of Rao in the No.-1 singles flight by way of a 6-0, 6-4 performance over Katie Murray.
MSMC (5-7, 3-3 Skyline) took a 6-1 lead prior to Sun's singles victory before closing the match out with a tightly contested match in the No.-5 singles match when SLC's Ellie
O'Brian battled the Knights' Victoria Veloz-Vicioso to a third set tiebreaker before falling 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
